Abstract:

We use for FDMA signals reception a deterministic particle technique associated to a characterization of fading in wireless channels. This characterization takes into account the Doppler effect of the channel and consists of a minimal approximation basis that is sufficient to represent the received signal. The unknown parameters associated to this representation have to be estimated jointly to the symbol sequence containing the message. Maximum likelihood deterministic particle filtering is an appropriate solution to this joint estimation/detection problem. Simulation results show that the proposed receiver is superior to PSP (“Per-Survivor Processing”) and the symbol error probability tends to the theoretical optimum when the number of particles increases.
